MESSAGE FROM THE
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

The idea of a lifetime captured in a single piece of music, with its beginning, development and end, fascinated and inspired me since I was a child.

I felt that the colors, impossible in a real life, can be found in music as if the music could be seen as well. Growing up, I witnessed the expanding of the complexity and palettes of the musical pieces I played and listened to. Today, I love sharing these beautiful moments and the way I feel about them.

It is its own incomparable joy to curate a series of music programs, featuring the instruments I love, the musicians I admire and the music masterpieces

I worship. And it is a gift and a thrill to be both a spectator of those programs as a listener and to be part of them as a performer.

The Flatiron Festival is made possible through the non-profit organization 'Music For Minds' that I started back in 2017 aiming to both bring classical music to children of all ages through school concerts and workshops, and to create music festivals with expansive and educational programming. We at Music for Minds are extremely grateful for Jonathan DePeri's support in hosting us in his incredible Gotham Arts venue and we hope that our concerts will excite our audiences just as much as they excite us!

Yours sincerely,

Asiya Korepanova
